To alleviate the audio bombardment of lecturing, master trainer Bob Pike recommends that participants should be given a chance every eight minutes to internalize what they have been hearing before it's simply supplanted by the next wave of information. Pike also points out that adding visuals to a lesson results in a 14 to 38 percent improvement in retention (Pike, 1994).
